Zuban Córdoba’s recent survey results indicate that Argentine President Javier Milei faces a significant loss of public trust because most respondents now distrust him after his controversial LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal. Between March 12 and 14, a survey polled 1,600 people and showed that public disillusionment with the current administration is increasing.

The survey results showed that 57.6% of respondents now distrust the libertarian leader at a 95% confidence level with a 2.4% margin of error. Public confidence decreased rapidly after the LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal, which caused significant financial losses for many investors.

The Zuban Córdoba report states that public negativity is increasing at a slow yet constant rate without any visible limits. The government’s tone and evaluation continue to shift as multiple complex issues gain prominence in political discussions. The recent months have been defined by successive events resembling bloodbaths. The severe assessment reflects how public dissatisfaction with Milei’s leadership continues to grow.

The survey showed that just 36% of participants trusted Milei after the crypto scandal. 6.4% of respondents remained undecided, which demonstrates considerable uncertainty within the population. The data shows Milei’s trustworthiness and public reputation have taken significant damage.

A substantial 58.5% of survey respondents view the president negatively, which demonstrates considerable damage to his overall image. Conversely, only 41.1% maintain a favorable opinion. 58.4% of the population disapproves of his administration, while 41.6% still support his leadership.

The LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal began on February 14 when President Milei endorsed a new token through a deleted social media post on platform X (formerly Twitter). The cryptocurrency’s market capitalization exceeded $4 billion within hours but then nosedived by over 95% as early investors and alleged insiders quickly sold their shares.

According to a blockchain analytics firm called Nansen, insiders and automated trading algorithms took $180 million in profits from the scheme. Investors in LIBRA bore significant financial damage as 86% experienced combined losses amounting to $251 million. Thousands of investors faced devastating financial losses after the fallout including many who originally supported Milei.

Milei sought to separate himself from the project amid increasing public outrage by stating he only spread information about LIBRA without intending to endorse it. His explanation failed to reduce the public’s resentment and ease the legal examination.

A federal investigation has been initiated by Argentine authorities to examine President Milei’s alleged involvement, while numerous criminal complaints against Milei and related parties have emerged from the scandal. The LIBRA scandal keeps producing legal consequences that worsen the difficulties for Milei’s administration, which is already under stress.

The La Libertad Avanza party of Milei maintains its lead position in pre-election polls despite sustaining major public image damage and facing continuous legal investigations. The party maintains 36.7% support while the opposition coalition Unión por la Patria stands at 32.5%. The scandal has damaged Milei’s reputation but has not fully destroyed his political movement.

The survey results reveal the instability of Milei’s political position while showing his increasing difficulty in sustaining public confidence. The president’s ability to rebuild public trust remains unclear as new information continues to surface during the LIBRA scandal investigation. The next election will determine if Milei can manage the difficulties he faces and maintain his political power in Argentina.
